VaMpiRe FeVeR Part 1 (Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer)

October 29, 2008

Whoa! It just happened! I didn’t know what hit me but it just happened. Just last week, Dyeypi (a young lady who’s crazy with the vampire chronicles of Anne Rice) sent me the complete series of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. She was raving about it but admittedly I was not so excited because the author was completely unknown to me. If she’d been talking about Sheldon, Grisham, Ludlum, or Dan Brown, I would have joined her enthusiasm then.

Without a new book at hand to read, I started reading “Twilight” which is the first book of the series. I was a bit disappointed because the story was told in first person and I’m not much into first person stories. It was all in the perspective of the main protagonist, a diffident seventeen-year old girl who grew up in sunny Phoenix and because of some circumstances concerning her mother’s second marriage, she decided to join her father in the rainy town of Forks, Washington. I continued reading until I got engrossed with the story, and then it hit me…Vampires! The story was all about vampires and werewolves and humans! Whew! I’ve read the Harry Potter books, all the seven books, several times actually and I very much enjoyed those stories about wizards and witches. I also have a JRR Tolkien book if you’re familiar with the author of the Lord of the Rings, with hobbits, elves, dwarves, and trolls as characters. I love fantasy novels but… vampires??? Euh! Mindless of the time, I immediately txted Dyeypi confirming my discovery. But by then I was already hooked with the story that I continued reading until 3 AM. I can’t wait to get my hands on the second book already which was titled “New Moon”. Now I remember giving away my Anne Rice books who was known for creating vampire stories such as the Vampire Chronicles i.e. Interview with the vampire.

I found out that movie adaptations of the series are already on its way. In fact, the first of the series titled “Twilight” will be shown this November, carrying the same title. And… Cedric Diggory (for those who read or watched Harry Potter will surely recognize the name, who would forget that goodlooking young man who was Harry’s rival in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) in the person of Robert Pattinson will be playing Edward Cullen, the main male protagonist…a goodlooking vampire that is. Love it! I can’t wait for that movie. Oh! I like Alice Cullen, love her hair (just like mine… I wish) LOL. Love yah Dyeypi Roma!
